Hello,
Blastbay has just released a concept demo of their game. You can find it on
On the audiogames forum, general game discussion and on the topic called "my desition on perilous hearts, and a surprize!
hmmm...
I hope you like it! Also there's a playthrou I did,
You can download it from here
I hope you like it!
what extension is the audio? not seen it before; Lol :)
And yeah, I love Blastbbay! :)
I do too. It's like the older version of PB-Games. Well it would have to be since the PB is still there LOL. And isn't he on the Zone now?
I don't know Philip is here or not. It's in 7z extension like zip or rar. Download winrar or 7-z to extract it. The reason I've compressed it to a format like that is it makes the file sys smaller than zip or rar.
i love blastbay studios and cant wait for the game to come out. philip is also very helpful when you have any problems with any games.
Yes. He's the greatest game developer.
I'll have to give this one a try. I was a very huge fan of Q9. Yes, Philip has an account here, but I don't think he has logged in for a couple of years.
Can't wait!
Nor can I. Just goes to show the kind of games I could one day develop, always assuming I can manage to get my mind back into a place where I can sit down and really concentrate on learning the BGT language.
Thanks burak; I'll give it a go. :)
It's definitely worth it.
yes, i have also giving it a try on the go, but have to report there is missing a very inportant button. that is the score command. maybe it is possible to hear to the score during gameplay in the full release of perilous hearts.
there has just no score server been set up for processing the scores for that game.
here is the link for blastbay studios: http://www.blastbay.com. and check out the header last for last news.
just scroll don the entire webpage to find it.
Remember this is just a concept demo. So not every feature is going to be turned on.
I'm actually very impressed by the audio production in this game. I've only heard the playthrough demo so ahven't tried it for myself. Normally I stear clear of audio games, but this one seems to be nicely polished. Not sure about the story yet, but for a concept it's interesting. I might give the demo a try for myself.
Blastbay's one of the rare companies that produce anything of quality anymore.
yes yes, Perilous hearts is a wonderfull demo, i doont know if Philip ask a small charge of some dollars for example $29,99 us for registration costs.
maybe he released the game in the middle of christmas
may i ask you all posters the following question?
should i peek at blastbay.com if the game will roll of the rubber moving sidewalk?
you know all what a sidewalk is.
a gigantic moving walking band.
Uhm, that post made absolutely no sense. As for a release date I have a feeling it won't be Christmas. Philip suggested, and this is extremely tentative, February or March at the earliest. I could be earlier but we won't know until he's ready to release it.
I imagine the game will be done when it's done. The nice thing about independant game developers is they aren't at the mercy of big name publisher deadlines. So the game can actualy be completed when it's done.
There is that. And knowing Philip it'll be a quality product. He actually considered taking preorders to fund development but decided against that to avoid just this sort of situation. This way since he's not obligated to finish the game in a certain time frame he can take as much time as he needs to in order to insure that the game is the best he can make it.
That was a smart decision on his part. Then people won't start crying scammer if he takes longer than expected and has already taken preorders. I remember how many people were jumping on that band wagon when Aeric the Cleric came out, and how dumb they looked when it was all said and done, lol.
Yeah, but unfortunately the fact that the game still doesn't run well on XP machines gives them what they believe to be leverage for claiming Jake to be a poor developer, when I get the feeling that the problem with the Finder on XP machines is as frustrating for him as it is for others. Then I've even heard some people complain about his replacing most of the synthe speech with human speech, claiming that a game with a classic old school feel shouldn't feature human dialogue.
Well, my feeling about that game was that it was innovative enough that people shouldn't have been complaining whether he used human speech or synth. I understand that it might have made the atmosphere less effective for some people, but really, be grateful that he's doing something that's not a card game or a traditional side scroller. As for the issue about XP machines, I never ran into that problem myself, although I was on an XP machine when the game first came out. It ran fine for me, although it was very slow to load most of the time.
Well the slow load times seems fairly standard. I'm surprised you never had problems with the scanners and things since everyone else I've talked to who uses XP has experienced it. Of course it makes me wonder yet again if this has more to do with each individual system than with the game itself. And unfortunately that might make it harder to pin down just what could be causing the problems. Speaking of Airik I really should Email Jake and find out if possible how close he is to being ready to record voiceovers for Airik 2. Since I provided the voice for Airik in the first game I should find out if possible when he'll need me to do the same for the next game. And I've been meaning to ask him if he's going to need me for the third game also since that one takes place at least partly in the past.
I like hanging onto a vine and shooting things on the ground from there.
Never really tried that.
Yes, I can get much closer to things without getting hurt, and if I'm in danger, I can just climb up again. Sometimes, I can knife things from the vine.
I don't know if Phil is on the zone, but I do know he is on the audiogames.net forum. And so is aprone! Well I downloaded it from the forum and I am about to install it. Rock on!
Philip is actually on the Zone but he has far more of a presence on audiogames.net and his own forums.
I think we all can agree on 2 things: 1; I spend too much time on audiogames.net and 2; Perilous Hearts is gonna be awesome!
It's going to be a step in the right direction at least ...I hope. Blind people really get shafted when it comes to good gaming experiences. This will be refreshing...I think.
I am so impressed with the Artificial Inteligence in this game. The enemies fight each other deliveratly, get scared or angry with you or each other, chase after you or other enemies, its just grate. One time I was walking on a branch and eight bores were below me and a riot started and all eight of them died in unison. Imagine the squealing and gutting sounds before the death cries and boddy drops on the ground. It stopps you dead in your tracks for a moment. Then the vultures come and eat the bodies and its like nothing happend.
Yeah really. Even the latest of Shades of Doom, which features an admittedly primative AI system, didn't go that far. Monsers could get in each other's way but it didn't happen as often as in PH.
I'm very impressed with the audio quality of this game so far. Even the music and sound design is very believable. It sounds like something you'd get in a commercial mainstream video game, which in my admitedly limited experience with audio games is unusual.
Limited your experience may be but you're definitely right about that. Most devs either can't afford or just don't care to put forth the little extra effort to make the audio environments in their games believable. To be fair though cheap is one thing sound and music libraries definitely are not.
That is going to be one awesome game. Checked it out for myself and it sounds so realistic.
Yup. And the animals behave pretty realistically since they can get scared or angry and possibly attack you as a result. And I like how each type of animal behaves more or less realistically to how they might in the wild. Monkeys run while a boar would be more likely to attack you.
he does a good job with the gameplay. I just hope the story can end up being as good. I imagine there isn't a really big market for audio game developers to write a good story. There's not a big market for audio games to begin with, so finding the resources for decent production values can't be easy. I'm actually curious if he composed the music himself or used pre-existing music from a sound library.
Hopefully one day the project to somehow make Deus Ex accessible willl come to fruition.
My guess is he got Quinton Pendel to do it again the way he did with Q9.
I hope he puts the leperds in level one as well. Imagine a bore and a leperd fighting each other. Or a whole bunch of bores, chimps, and leperds fighting each other at the same time. That would be awesome.
I remember him saying he didn't plan on doing that.
That's too bad. Whare did he say that?
First I would like to say I my self agree this is a well put together game. My only problem is I cant get pass the waterfall what am I suppose to do? I tried listening to the audio file provided but it's a dropbox error
